Single or Two Transformer Link 1/Link 2 configurationsUpdated 6 months ago

Many thermostats may have an RC/RH wire jumper installed. This would apply when one R-wire is present, indicating a single-transformer system. When wiring the ZEN thermostat a RC/RH jumper wire is not required. The ZEN thermostat utilizes a pair of links located on the backside of the thermostat.


Link 1 and Link 2 inserted (Default):

  • 1-Transformer HVAC system.
  • RC and RH circuits share the same transformer Common. 

Link 1 inserted; Link 2 removed:

  • 2-Transformer HVAC system.
  • RC and RH circuits are separate R (24V) power sources.
  • W1, W2 or W2 Aux return to the RH (Heating) transformer.

Link 2 inserted; Link 1 removed:

  • 1-Transformer HVAC system.
  • RC and RH circuits share the same transformer Common.

W1, W2 or W2 Aux return to a separate circuit not using the transformer Common.
